The ball is becoming quite a tradition now. This year I was doing 2 side shows, which ended up being 5. I installed a special rig that allowed me to do 2 suspensions at the same time — one mobile and one static. The mobile one allowed me to put the sub at 20 feet in the air and move her over the crowd.
Everything went well. I was also doing the coordination for the show, which is normally not part of my role — I believe I did well. All 9 side shows that night went smoothly, and I was communicating with the lighting tech using my blue laser to start each show.
For safety, this year I had a reserved space for my equipment, which was great. That said, this was the last time I will do this performance — I was too tired to play and have some fun afterward.
Maiko, O, and Marianne performed well — it was great to have those performers.
