This is my little experience over the last few years with some locations that might help others. Outdoor events in the summer are great, and cheap.
Bondage Champêtre on Mont-Royal — 8/10
I did about 7 years at the same location during the Tam-Tams, a little away from the main stage, close to the EDM area. Had many interactions with cops, never had an issue. Parking is not the best, about a 15-minute walk from the subway. Toilets and food are not too far.
Whip and Munch at Parc Lafontaine — 7/10
This park has many good spots for whipping and chatting. Some areas have picnic tables but get very crowded with families on weekends. Much quieter after dusk. Toilets are in the middle of the park, a convenience store is not too far, and the hospital nearby is a plus depending on your activities. We did fire, whips, and munch there and never had any interaction with police. Parking is easy, though a little far for people using public transit.
Whip, Education, Fire jam and Munch at Parc Maissoneuve — 6/10
That park is huge, with many nice spots for a variety of activities. Easy to find a private area, great for people with bicycles, but a good walk from the subway and parking. Never had any interference from police. Would not recommend picking a spot close to the sheep farm. Bathrooms and food are a little less accessible here.
Whip at Parc Angrignon — 5/10
A first for me, recently used for a whip class. Parking and subway are very close. The park seems to be used a lot by single men hooking in the bush. Lots of nice spots, no issues with police so far. Warning: lots of mosquitoes, and many people just passing through. Dog park is not far. No food nearby, but bathrooms are easy to access.
Munch at Parc Jarry — 6/10
Nice park in the summer. Easy access by car, parking is usually free and available, but a bit of a walk from the subway. Great for talking, less suited for anything else — very busy with families during summer. Lots going on, and plenty of shaded spots to sit under trees.
Whip near Lac des Castors, Mont-Royal — 6/10
A great spot for whip practice. Far from the crowds, not too far from parking. Very close to a police station, yet we ran whip practice there for several years without any issues. Far from food and bathrooms.
Munch at Parc Gouin — 8/10
A good walk for people using public transit, but well-suited for those with cars. Bathrooms, food, and water are accessible. Nice surroundings with good shaded spots under trees. No issues there for whips and munches over many years.
Bondage and Photos at Parc LaSalle — 3/10
Some great spots, but the recommendation is to go very early. The belvedere gets heavily used for dance classes in the summer, though it works well for suspension and photos. Better for people with cars or bicycles, less convenient on foot. Bathrooms, water, and food are also harder to access. Being close to the water keeps it cool, but expect a lot of insects — both the friendly and less friendly kind.
Bondage and Photos at Île de la Visitation — 3/10
A great location if you have the gear and skills — the old buildings are a nice backdrop. The labyrinth also offers some cover. Recommend going early, before joggers start filling the paths.
