I am always amused to realize how little I know about bondage, even after many years of real practice. I know knots and ropes, mechanics and physics. Yet in the past 2 years I have learned more shibari and hojojutsu than in the previous 10. I work hard to make my bondage more aesthetic — difficult for me because I do not feel I have an artistic side. But I love learning new things, new approaches, and new tools.
Suspension was easy for me to learn. I was suspending myself from a young age, and in the military I was part of the rappel team, so we were suspending ourselves all the time. Last month I learned how to use pegs and rings — very useful for fast bondage. Just by watching Chris from Boston at the suspension party I learned a new hip harness, very useful for many things.
Now I enjoy predicament bondage, which requires more brainpower to engineer. I have only learned a few so far, but my brain is like a sponge when I love something — I always want more.
