A fireplay intensive.

Last weekend I did my first long fireplay workshop — combining my two 2-hour workshops, plus adding lots of time for practice and a 30-minute lunch break.

Fireplay is basic and common sense, but also technical with some knowledge to share. To minimize fear, it is good to be supervised.

I taught some basic concepts about sensual play with heat — playing with differences in temperature.

I followed the military approach to teaching a new weapon: how to use it, how to light it, how to extinguish the flame, safety procedures, and how to handle an incident — water, safety blanket, and fire extinguisher.

I showed the approach I learned from circus fire jams, and how to handle fuel and a safety blanket.

I introduced play with torches, fire cotton, mouse, butane bubbles, fire gloves, mini flame thrower, flashing, tapping, and more.

I finished with a demo of fire flogging and fire whips — and the last bit was mostly a good excuse to use up the remaining fuel.
