This kind of issue can happen to anyone, even the best of us.
In 20 years, I have done close to 3,000 suspensions and a few hundred fire play sessions. I have had a few incidents that scared me, but by chance, training, and instinct, I have never injured anyone. Fear is a good motivator to make things safer; when fear disappears, trouble appears.
I know that I do not forgive people easily — and I never forgive myself.
I know the pain we feel when something goes wrong, when a mistake could have turned out very badly. I cross my fingers and knock on wood, but we have to understand that these performances carry risks, and we are aware of them.
