Fantasia is the Montreal festival of Asian cinema. I was asked to do a shibari performance for the opening party. After some time of preparation and planning, everyone was happy about the performance I was going to do that night.
Two days before the event, Disney requested that there be no shibari or bondage performance at the event — a concern about their image and the upcoming release of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
So we modified the show from A to Z. All suspension was done with a vanilla suspension device — a sling.
Oiso was a great performer that night, with lots of costume changes and aerial play. For my part it was more of a rigging role, but I was satisfied with the result.
