Yesterday I went to the Boathouse.ca store in Dorval. They have a great selection of ropes and equipment. Imagine rope ranging from a few cents per foot to $2. Knives for rope cutting, special equipment for all kinds of rigging tricks. I also purchased a needle and a pulley. The pulley I bought looks like a toy compared to my old one, but strangely it can hold twice the weight. They are made of plastic composite with reinforced steel.
I could spend hours in a store like this — lots of equipment that is very hard to find elsewhere. For example, the spectra rope I purchased for the rigging at the fetish weekend is normally used to moor large boats. A single 3/8″ line that can hold 5,000 lbs. Simply wow.
