I just got back from another contract with a company that does motion capture for video games.
I do basic harnesses with ropes and use pulleys to make the actors fly — very easy.
Today was different. They asked for a free fall, so I used the quick release on the marine carabiner and it worked very well.
The video game is about a god who can touch, move, and play with characters — so in a sense I was the hand of god.
The rigging was meant to make the camera believe that the god was lifting the character by the neck and moving it.
I love wire work — very creative. I have to be adaptive for the director and understanding of the actor as well.
Less sexy than usual rigging, but this pays more than any show I have done so far.
